About Us

Crusher is located in Lancashire, UK and run by myself, Paul Robins.

I've bouldered, climbed and mountaineered extensively throughtout the UK and Europe. Bouldered Font 8a, 8b+ on the sport and E8 on gear. I like to 'swing an axe' every so often, hard ice gives me the hebegeebies but I do like to climb a bit of European Ice.

I'm a true beliver in mixing it up with climbing, keep it fresh, different styles, new places, new experiences but never shying away from protracted dedication to specific goals.

My training has consistantly verged on the obsessive and I have built up a great foundation of knowledge and understanding of training methods and how they can be applied to the real world of climbing.

I started climbing age 13 in the Lancashire Quarries. Climbed through my teens in North Wales and the Lakes. Mainly traditional climbing with a definite emphasis on training hard for hard trad onsighting. Steely crimp strength and the ability to hang in for as long as it takes were the goals and with dedication this lead me to a climbing highlight age 18 of an onsight of The Cad E6 at Gogarth.

I started working in the mid 90's at Cliffs Barn Climbing wall in Lancashire, route setting and organising bouldering competitions. This led me away from the 'Trad' scene and into the world of the Boulderer.

Years of cellar board training followed, building and developing the boards at Cliffs Barn. Experimenting with holds, the boards and the new techniques that were being developed. The Campus Board (the vision of the late Wolfgang Gullich) had only just surfaced, so we obviously had to build one.

My interest in wall building has continued to date, numerous cellar board builds and university wall projects. I also come from a Mechanical Engineering and Carpentry background which ultimately lead to the interest in developing of my own fingerboards in 2008..

This is where the conception of Crusher comes in...

since the first wooden fingerboards I made, many hours of experimentation and testing by myself, close climbing buddies and feedback from training monster Stevie Haston, have now lead to the world class fingerboards and holds that make up the Crusher product range.

I also like to demonstrate quite regularily the Crusher Moto....  Don't Rush Just Crush  :D
